Sidekick, A Gemini AI Assistant: Your In-Game AI Companion

Gemini AI Assistant, Sidekick, will enhance mobile gaming experience

The standout feature, Sidekick, brings the Gemini AI assistant to gaming. This in-game overlay lets players access real-time help without leaving their game. Powered by Gemini Live, Sidekick offers instant guidance, making it easier to tackle challenges or get tips during gameplay. Google describes Sidekick as a tool that “curates relevant gaming info and provides direct access to Gemini Live for real-time guidance.”

Key Sidekick features include:

  • Capture and Share: Take screenshots, record gameplay, or stream directly to YouTube.
  • Gemini AI Assistant: Activate Gemini Live to ask for in-game support or strategies.
  • Seamless Integration: Access tools without interrupting your gaming session.

However, some users might face overlap with existing gaming modes from brands like Vivo or OnePlus. To avoid cluttered pop-ups, players may need to disable either Sidekick or their device’s gaming mode.

Beyond Sidekick, Google introduces a “You” tab to streamline content management. This tab offers personalized recommendations, rewards, subscriptions, and stats, helping users discover apps, audiobooks, or podcasts tailored to their interests. The Play Store also adds a gamer profile feature, allowing users to track achievements and create AI-generated avatars for a customized look.

Google Play Games, previously in beta, now supports over 200,000 titles across mobile and PC. The “You” tab and enhanced gaming platform roll out this week in select Play Points markets, with more countries joining from October 1, 2025. These updates position the Google Play Store as a smarter, gamer-friendly hub, powered by the Gemini AI assistant.
