Telegram has launched a new AI feature that helps users read faster. On January 3, the messaging app introduced AI-powered summaries for channel posts and web articles.
This is Telegram’s first major update of 2026. The company says the new tool focuses strongly on user privacy and data protection.
The feature lets users turn long content into short summaries in seconds. It works inside the Telegram app and does not collect personal data.
Telegram Introduces AI Summaries With Strong Privacy Protection

The new AI summaries work on Telegram channels and Instant View pages, which show web articles inside the app. Users can tap once to get a short and clear version of long posts.
Telegram uses open-source AI models for this feature. These models run on Cocoon, a decentralized computing network.
Every request stays encrypted from start to end. This means no one can read the content, not even the servers processing it.
Key features of Telegram AI summaries:
- One-tap summaries for long posts
- Works on channel posts and web articles
- Uses open-source AI models
- No data storage or tracking
- End-to-end encrypted requests
- Available on all major platforms
Telegram says this system gives users speed without giving up privacy.

Cocoon Network Powers Telegram’s Privacy-First AI
Cocoon stands for Confidential Compute Open Network. It launched in November 2025. Telegram founder Pavel Durov introduced it at the Blockchain Life conference in Dubai.
Cocoon runs on The Open Network (TON) blockchain. GPU owners from around the world can join the network. They offer computing power and earn TON tokens in return.
How Cocoon protects user data:
- Uses decentralized computing
- Runs on trusted hardware environments
- Keeps data encrypted during processing
- Prevents GPU providers from seeing content
- Removes centralized cloud control
Telegram is Cocoon’s first major customer. The app already used the network for translations. AI summaries are the next step. This gives Cocoon access to Telegram’s massive global user base.
The January update also added Liquid Glass design support on iOS. It includes transparent visuals and adjustable effects to save battery life.
Telegram ended 2025 with strong growth. The company released over 75 new features last year. AI summaries are now available to all users, and developers can also build apps using Cocoon.
